Preparing for AI – Adopt or get Left Behind
AI has become one of the biggest conversations of our time. But it’s not really about AI itself; instead, it’s about our preparation for it.
What I’m seeing all too often is people ignoring it, distorting it, deleting it, or generalizing it without truly engaging.
Instead of becoming curious and friendly with this technology, many are choosing to keep it at arm’s length.
Over the last while, we’ve run a number of masterclasses to help people shift their mindset toward AI. Because here’s the truth: AI isn’t something to fear; it’s a tool designed to aid us.
Yet we get stuck on the wrong questions: Is it biased? When will it reach enlightenment? In my view, these are distractions.
The real questions are: How do I use this tool to bring more seamlessness into my life?
How do I allow it to expand my creativity, to spark new ways of thinking, and to nudge me out of my comfort zone?
If you’re not exploring AI in this way, you risk falling into the same trap as the Luddites.
The Luddites were a group of men in Birmingham at the turn of the agricultural era into the industrial era.
As machinery like tractors began replacing the physical labor of farming, these men resisted.
They refused to adapt. Instead, they broke into factories and destroyed the very machines that represented the future.
The result? They got left behind. While the world moved forward, they clung to outdated methods, were reduced to subsistence farming, and were barely able to feed themselves.
It’s a powerful reminder: resisting progress doesn’t stop it; it only ensures that you’re excluded from its benefits.
We’re standing at a similar threshold today. AI is here, and it’s evolving fast.
The choice is ours: do we embrace it as a tool to grow, expand, and evolve, or do we become the new Luddites, watching the future unfold without us?
